He specializes in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, commercial law and strategic advice for the establishment and restructuring of large companies in Central America with investments of more than five billion dollars.
Thanks to his business background and experience, he has represented the most important companies in the United States and Europe, as well as large-scale global clients, in a wide variety of cross-border transactions and complex commercial contract negotiations. This has led him to participate in projects in all Central American countries. In addition, he regularly advises companies on strategic, corporate and government matters.
Our clients recognize his capacity for innovation and negotiation to advise them in the search and use of opportunities that generate value. Thanks to this, in 2016 he was selected as one of the 40 business leaders under 40 years old by The financial, Costa Rica's leading business daily, and has been frequently cited by major national news sources such as La Nación, The financial y The Republic.
He was an instructor professor of business and innovation at Harvard University for three years and currently serves as a visiting professor of service design and entrepreneurship at INCAE Business School, adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at the School of Business Administration of the University of Costa Rica, and adjunct professor at the Faculty of Law of the same university. In addition, he is a Principal Investigator at the Center on the Legal Profession from Harvard Law School.
He is a contributing author of the book Leadership for Lawyers: Essential Leadership Strategies for Law Firm Success (Globe Law and Business), which explores the key elements of leadership in law firms, and has had the privilege of being invited to give more than twenty keynote addresses at international forums, such as the International Bar Association (IBA), the largest and most important organization of lawyers in the world. Thanks to his international career as a professor, researcher, author and lecturer, he has been recognized as one of the leading Latin American experts in the management of professional services firms.
As part of his leadership in business and active citizenship issues, he was named an associate of the Coalition of Development Initiatives (CINDE), the world's leading investment promotion agency. He is also Director of the global Board of Directors of TAG Alliances, an international network that brings together the most prominent legal and accounting firms, Director of the Administrative Board of the Paniamor Foundation and Director of the Board of Directors of the Business Association for Development (AED), the main business association in Costa Rica. He is a Founding Member of the Global Shapers chapter of the World Economic Forum in Costa Rica and a Fellow of StartingBloc and Stars.
For more than six years, he was a member of the board of directors of the Barrio Escalante Neighborhood Association, a pioneering public-private alliance, through which Alta obtained the recognition of leading light de The Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice y Latin Lawyer as the leading law firm in Pro Bono matters in Costa Rica and Central America.
