Alejandro is a partner at ALTA Costa Rica with more than 30 years of experience. He has dedicated his professional career to the practice of law, representing clients in a wide range of disputes before both judicial courts and arbitral tribunals. His experience covers a wide range of areas, from administrative contracting to mergers and acquisitions, consumer law, among others. In addition, he has had the privilege of advising leading companies on these matters and serving as a member of several boards of directors.
His professional work has been accompanied by intense academic activity. He has the honor of teaching classes as a professor at the Autonomous University of Central America and the University of Costa Rica, especially in the area of Administrative Law. Likewise, he contributes with expertise and knowledge in various specialized publications and participates as a speaker at different international conferences.
His commitment to culture has also been significant. As a former member of the Board of Directors of the National Theater, he has contributed to the cultural development of his country. Furthermore, his ties to the French Embassy and French culture have earned him important distinctions, including being named a Knight of the National Order of Merit and a Knight of the Legion of Honour, honors conferred by the French Government.
He has also had the honor of serving in public service as a Substitute Justice of the Constitutional Chamber for 8 years.
His academic background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Law from the Autonomous University of Central America, as well as a Master's Degree, and a Ph.D. in Administrative Law from the University of Bordeaux, France.
Throughout his career, he has been honored with numerous awards and recognitions, most notably his ranking as an Eminent Practitioner in Public Law and in Band 2 for Dispute Resolution and Band 3 for Corporate/M&A, according to Chambers and Partners. These recognitions are a testament of the commitment and dedication he has invested in his work over the years.
